How can I extract my Windows 10 product key?

If you have purchased a new PC, laptop or tablet running Windows 10 then it should have a sticker which contains the product key, or be included somewhere with the packaging or documentation that came with it. Mostly in Laptops Windows Product key is labelled at the Back side of Laptop  but it varies from laptop to Laptop.

In case if you got a boxed copy of Windows 10, it will be on a label in the box. If you bought a digital copy of Windows 10 online from Microsoft, you should have received the product key in an email.

Here is simple command that help us to find the original Windows Product Key using Command Prompt or PowerShell, from BIOS or Registry:

• • Open the command prompt, You may type cmd in Run and press Enter
  • Type wmic path softwarelicensingservice get OA3xOriginalProductKey and hit Enter
  • You will get Windows Product Key on Command Prompt

Get Windows License Key using PowerShell

Open a PowerShell windows with administrative privileges, type the following command and hit Enter:

powershell "(Get-WmiObject -query ‘select * from SoftwareLicensingService’).OA3xOriginalProductKey"

Another program which can extract product keys is Recover Keys which may cost $29.99, but does a much deeper scan of your PC and can retrieve keys which no free application can, including Adobe’s Creative Suite.

How to check if Windows 10 is activated?

Go to start menu and Right click on the  System from the menu. Find the tab Windows Activation, you will see the message “Windows is activated”.
